4 x FOX HUNTING ENGRAVINGS fm 1821 PLATES - Artist H. Alken
For sale is this set of four hand coloured aquatint engravings from antique 19th century plates. An aquatint is an artwork which was made using a sculpted printing plate on which the image was etched by acid and etching tools. Each engraving is colour finished by hand.
They are titled 'Going to Cover', 'Full Cry', 'Breaking Cover', and 'The Death'. The plates, which date from 1821, were sculpted by T. Sutherland from drawings by artist Henry Alken (1785-1851).
They have been professionally matted and framed and measure 62cm x 43cm overall. (Each engraving measures 46cm x 36cm.) They have been framed for many years which has kept them in very good condition consistent with age.
These are collector's items. They are not mass produced art prints.
They could be sent by freight, but I will deliver to Brisbane or within 50km of Caloundra, Queensland.
